Forty-two years ago, Chompie’s opened its first restaurant in the Phoenix area with the goal of serving high-quality New York-style bakery and deli items to guests. Four decades later, the exemplary service and award-winning food are still winning the hearts and stomachs of the Phoenicians. They’ve expanded to five full-service delis and restaurants to feed the people of the Phoenix metro area with a New York State of hunger. JRI Hospitality and Chompie’s are developing a one-of-a-kind dining experience that customers will enjoy. Read on to learn more about what we’re doing with this innovative restaurant concept.
Updating a Beloved Institution
With a high-concept development, we knew it was necessary to make some changes. As a result, Chompie’s is closing the Paradise Valley mall location to move the restaurant to 32nd Street and Cactus Road. The 27,000 square-foot location will offer a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
To match the delicious food and excellent service, we are introducing the new Chompie’s Deli, Bakery, and Restaurant, with a dining experience that will take guests back to the East coast and the heart of New York. The customer journey starts at the market filled with delicious bagels, bread, pastries, and various merchandise set on beautiful bread carts and crates, surrounded by weathered brick, rich woods, and metals reminiscing old New York markets.
The journey will continue to the coffee, deli, and bakery counters, which will be backdropped by iconic subway tile and traditional brick. As guests walk through the market, they will be greeted with the magnificent lights and glamor of New York with lighting that will transport guests to the Big Apple. While it will have large dining rooms, guests will not want to miss out on the patio area where it will be filled with trees, greenery, and sparkling lights to capture the unique feeling of eating in Central Park.
What Does This Mean For Guests?
From kitchen to table, guests will be able to enjoy a new Chompie’s dining experience. As customers are seated in an unforgettable New York-style atmosphere, they can watch their food be prepared by the seasoned deli and bakery staff. Not to mention, look around and take in a bit of New York charm without leaving Phoenix. Once the new location is open, guests will enjoy the same food they have always loved, but with a new one-of-a-kind experience that will make them fall in love with Chompie’s all over again.

JRI Hospitality and Chompie’s are excited to introduce the North 32nd location to guests new and old. The restaurant is planning to open in July 2021, and we couldn’t be more excited to see how guests respond to the experience. In the meantime, guests can still visit the mall location until May 16th, 2021 to get their New York fix. Don’t forget, on March 31st the only access to the mall will be through Chompie’s front door.
